5 Foil Pack Meal Ideas: Listener Favorites from Instagram

These are crowd-sourced and family-approved, ready for your next trip.

Classic Campfire Hobo Packs

  • Ground beef or turkey, sliced potatoes, carrots, and onions
  • Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a pat of butter
  • Wrap tightly in foil and cook over coals for 25–30 min

Southwest Chicken & Veggie Foil Packs

  • Chicken, bell peppers, corn, black beans, salsa
  • Sprinkle taco seasoning + shredded cheese
  • Cook over medium heat for 20–25 min, then top with avocado

Breakfast Scramble Packs

  • Instant noodles + miso paste + dehydrated mushrooms + meat of choice
  • Add a soft-boiled egg and scallions
  • Pro tip: miso in squeeze pouch, mushrooms in Ziploc

Gnocchi & Greens Skillet

  • Shelf-stable gnocchi + olive oil + garlic + spinach
  • Add leftover protein and finish with parm + chili flakes
  • Add your favorite protein or leftovers

Breakfast Fried Rice

  • Leftover rice + eggs + bacon bits + green onion or frozen peas
  • Cook fast on the skillet, eat hot and hearty

  • Blend spinach, berries, banana, protein powder
  • Freeze in silicone molds or baggies
  • Shake with milk or water for an easy breakfast

Biscuit Bombs

  • Pre-made biscuit dough, crescent rolls or rhode rolls wrapped around ham/cheese, pizza fixings or PB/choc chips
  • Store in cooler and cook in foil or on a stick

DIY Protein Pancake Bags

  • Dry mix: protein powder, oat flour, baking powder, cinnamon
  • Add water and egg at camp, shake, pour onto a skillet
    PRO TIP: use a blender bottle or shaker cup for easy mixing, pour and cleanup.

Overnight Oats in Mason Jars

Base (per jar):

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup milk or alt milk
  • 1–2 tsp chia seeds (optional)
  • 1–2 tsp maple syrup or honey
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: Protein Powder

Flavors:

  • Berry Almond: frozen berries + almonds
  • Banana PB: banana + peanut butter + cinnamon
  • Chocolate Protein: protein powder + cacao nibs
  • Apple Pie: chopped apple + nutmeg + raisins

🫙 Use wide-mouth jars, label flavors ahead of time, and refrigerate overnight.

Charcuterie Tackle Box

Italian Chopped Salad Jars

  • Romaine, cherry tomatoes, red onion, salami, mozzarella, olives
  • Olive oil + red wine vinegar + Italian seasoning
  • PRO TIP: Layer dressing at the bottom, lettuce at the top—shake to serve

Turkey & Cheese Lettuce Wraps

  • Romaine or butter lettuce
  • Add deli turkey, cheddar, mustard, avocados or hummus, veggies
  • Roll up taco-style or wrap in foil for on-the-go

Quesadilla Wrap (Listener Suggestion)

  • Tortilla
  • Add deli turkey, cheddar, whatever kind of quesadilla you want
  • Crisp up tortilla/quesadilla in a pan and enjoy!

Kid-Approved & Campfire Fun Recipes

Banana Boats 2.0

  • Banana sliced lengthwise
  • Stuff with chocolate chips, marshmallows, granola
  • Optional: peanut or almond butter
  • Wrap in foil, cook over fire

Camp Pizza Bagels

  • Tomato sauce + mozzarella + pepperoni
  • Spread on bagels, wrap in foil, heat over coals

Trail Mix Bar

  • Set out containers: pretzels, nuts, dried fruit, cereal, M&Ms
  • Let kids build their own mix bags

Campfire S’mores Skillet Dip

Ingredients:

  • Chocolate chips
  • Marshmallows
  • Optional: PB drizzle, sea salt, graham cracker crumble

Gear:

  • 6–8” cast iron skillet
  • Foil, tongs, gloves

Directions:

  • Line with foil, layer chocolate + extras + marshmallows
  • Toss ingredients so that they are evenly distributed
  • Cook near hot coals (not flames!) 5–10 min
  • Serve with graham crackers—no sticky fingers needed
  • Optional: Can drizzle with caramel sauce or peanut butter. Can serve with fruit too.
